Description
The original Church of Panagia Platsani stood at the edge of Oia, Santorini. It was destroyed in an earthquake in 1956 and re-built in Caldera Square at the centre of the village. Patrons have prayed there for the safety of sailors over the years. The church is dedicated to the Akathist Hymn of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Orthodox Church tradition.
