An oil painting of the Yellow Steeple, Trim, Meath, Ireland. It's history is quite violent with the local congregation massacred in it in the middle ages. The Steeple was part of a monastery and was reputed to have been sacked by a Cromwellian army during the dissolution of the monasteries. I have tried to depict it's history in the red 'bloody' hue of the Porchfields that surround it and the dramatic sky.
I absorbed the basics of life and painting from my father, James Cassidy. In the late 1970's I spent five years working in a Graphic Design studio in Dublin City. The influence of that discipline can be seen in some of my paintings. I enjoy experimenting with various painting styles and mediums also photography and lately, digital art. I was honored to win a master class when I submitted my painting, The Burren, back in the 1990's with the renowned contemporary Irish artist Robert Ballagh. I have been involved in community art and education particularly with under represented communities.
